About this visa
This visa is a points-based visa and allows the successful worker applicant to stay in Australia for 5 years. The visa allows the successful worker the right to live and work and also study in a regional area of Australia. The Skilled Work regional (provisional) Visa 491 allows you to apply for Permanent Residency if the prerequisite criteria are met. You may also bring family members with you and you can include these family members on your initial application. These family members will have to live, study and work within the nominated regional area of the main applicant.
Who is eligible for this visa?
You must be under 45 years of age when the visa would be granted. You must have the prerequisite skillset at the time of application. Your occupation must also be on the eligible skilled occupations list. A health check will be also required for you and members of your family unit. You and your family must also pass the character requirements which are standard conditions with all these types of visas.
Qualification skill eligibility
As with other visas of this type, you must be nominated to apply by a State, Territory or Government agency, or an eligible relative. Each of the Territories or States have their own criteria for selecting appropriate candidates and the skillset they require and in which regional area.
Entitlements
You may be able to, if eligible, apply for a Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191), this will give you permanent residency. You can also travel to and from Australia as many times as you want whilst you have a valid visa.
