This visa stream will allow the following types of business activities:

  • General business or employment enquiries
  • Contract negotiations
  • Attending conferences or trade fairs provided that accommodation, visa application charges and/or other costs are not covered by the organiser with the attendee

Requirements

  • Be a genuine visitor coming to Australia for business visitor activities
  • Be off shore at the time of lodgement and at the time the decision on application is made

With this visa you may be allowed to:

  • Make general business or employment enquiries
  • Investigate, negotiate, enter into, review or discuss business contracts
  • Engage in activities related to an official visit by a government
  • Attend conferences, trade fairs, or seminars. You cannot be paid by the organizers for attending these events
  • Engage in tourist activities

You Cannot

  • Work for or provide services to a business or organization based in Australia
  • Sell goods or services directly to consumers

A short-term temporary work visa might be applicable if it's not connected to a business visitor and short term. You can apply for this visa in contention by considering your appropriate visa options.

APEC Business Travel Card Holders

If you hold an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Card (ABTC) , you don't need a substantive visa to enter Australia because your ABTC is considered to have applied for a Visitor visa.
ABTC holders, excluding New Zealanders, may be allowed to enter on the basis of a Visitor (subclass 600) Business Visitor stream visa. If the ABTC has 'AUS' printed on the back, it allows entry to Australia for short-stay business or tourism activity for the period during which the card is valid, which is 5 years from the date of its issue.
If you apply separately and receive a visa, then any visa issued with your ABTC will be cancelled.

How Long You Can Stay

This is a temporary visa.
Length of stay indicated in the visa grant letter and differs on each case. Considered are these;

  • Your intended duration of stay
  • Your intended duration of visit to Australia

The period you want to stay in Australia may not always be approved
There are single entry or multiple entries that are approved with:

  • Multiple Entry: You can leave and re-enter Australia for the visa's validity.

Typically, you will be allowed to stay for 3 months, although some applications are granted a stay of 12 months or more.
If you intend staying for any more than 3 months, or permanently, you must apply for another type of visa which is designated as allowing that kind of arrangement.

Stay Longer

This visa cannot be extended for a longer stay. A new visa must be applied for to remain in Australia beyond the validity of the current visa.
To apply for a new visa, the current visa must not include a "no further stay" condition such as 8503. In some exceptional cases, the "no further stay" condition may be waived.
You may be eligible to apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) Tourist stream . if you are already in Australia and would like to stay longer or holiday for an additional period.

The cost of the visa is AUD 195.00 per applicant.

Apply outside Australia

Health Insurance

Travel

Check VEVO or your visa grant letter to determine if you have a multiple entry visa or single-entry visa.
If you have a multiple entry visa, you can travel out of Australia and return to Australia before your visa expires and becomes invalid.
If your visa is a single-entry visa, and you travel out of Australia, you will not be allowed to return unless you apply for another visa.

  • Live temporarily in Australia
  • Any conditions and the stay period as specified in their visa should be followed

Business Visitor Activities

The business visitor can perform the following activities:

  • General business or employment inquiries
  • Investigate, negotiate, enter into, or review business contracts
  • Engage in activities for an official government visit
  • Attend conferences, trade fairs, or seminars on no remuneration by the organizers of the conference, trade fair or seminar
  • Engage in tourist activities

The following are the activities not permitted:

  • Work for or provide services to a business or organization whose place of activity is in Australia
  • Sell goods or services directly to the public

Best Interest of the Child

It may not be granted if, not in the best interests of an applicant under age 18.

Attend conferences, trade fairs, or seminars (provided that you do not receive remuneration from the organisers)

You Cannot

  • Work for or provide services to a business or organisation based in Australia
  • Sell goods or services directly to the public

Travel on Your Visa

  • Multiple Entries: If you have been granted a visa that allows multiple entries, then you may leave Australia and return as often as you want if your visa is still valid.
  • Single Entry: If your visa has only a single entry allowed and you leave Australia, you won't be allowed to return to Australia under that visa. You will have to apply for another visa to re-enter.
