Job Ready Program

The Job Ready Program (JRP) is an initiative by Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) aimed at international students in Australia who have completed an Australian qualification in a trade or vocational sector. The program helps students demonstrate that they have the necessary skills and work experience to work in their trade in Australia at the required industry standards. The JRP is divided into four stages.

Provisional Skills Assessment (PSA)

This is the initial assessment that ensures your qualifications meet the relevant trade. TRA will assess your qualifications and give the outcome. Time frame is always varied to assess the qualification and mentioned on their website.

Job Ready Employment (JRE)

Once you pass the PSA, you enter the JRE stage, where you must secure employment in your trade and work in a relevant industry role. At this stage applicant need to start paid employment and submit the employer details to TRA. At later stage you need to submit the Skill Progress report along with your salary slips. You may be able to claim up to three months of unbroken paid employment where the employment was undertaken immediately before applying for the JRE.

Job Ready Workplace Assessment (JRWA)

After accumulating sufficient employment hours, an official assessor from TRA will conduct an on-site assessment at your workplace to evaluate your practical skills and job readiness. The assessor observes you performing tasks relevant to your trade and evaluates your ability to meet Australian industry standards. You need to complete at least six (6)-months full-time equivalent employment from your JRE Start Date.

Job Ready Final Assessment (JRFA)

This is the final stage of the program where TRA assesses all the evidence of your work experience and assessments. At this stage you must complete 1725 hours of employment. Once you completed TRA issues a Job Ready Final Assessment outcome, which confirms that you are job-ready and meet the required standards for skilled employment in Australia.
