When you are student starting out on your study journey to higher education you may have defined and set ideas about what courses you want to take and the outcomes you expect. What happens if you have a change of heart once you have started your courses and you wish to change direction with your intended career? Or if you find your current subjects and courses unfulfilling and not holding the attraction they once did. Can you change courses and take another study pathway?
Also, there may be other reasons for changing courses such the provider no longer proves the course you are taking, or you course provider may not have fulfilled their obligations. Either way there are compliance and procedures you must take in order to change course.
You must always be aware that there are many regulations and criterion you must adhere to whilst being an international student. You must comply with all the relevant policies and Australian government conditions to stay as an International student and maintain your VISA status.
So, what are the requirements to changing course or provider? There are a number of prerequisites and these can vary depending on your circumstances. Below are listed a few that you may be relevant if you require changing course or provider:
Your course provider is no longer provides the course that you are currently doing.
- You must be able to prove that your course provider no longer does the course.
Your course provider is no longer accredited to do the course that you are currently doing.
- You must be able to prove that your course provider is no longer accredited.
You may wish to take another course as the current course is no longer going to give you the career path you require.
- In most cases you will only be able to change courses if you have at least 6 months studying your principle course. You may be required to have a good attendance and academic record with your current courses.
You may be finding the current course too demanding and feel you are struggling with the workload.
- You may be able to change to a less changeling course. Beware that this may require a reapplication for VISA or change of VISA.
