- You may study or train for up to 3 months with this visa, but if your main purpose of travel is to study, a student visa might be a better choice

Cruise
A visa is required if your cruise includes entering Australia.
For return cruises, the time spent on the cruise is considered time spent in Australia. You are not considered to have left the country, and a return cruise does not reset the stay period of your visa.
Verify with your cruise operator or travel agent whether or not your cruise meets the definition of a return cruise.
Duration of stay
It is a short stay visa.
Duration of stay is indicated in the visa grant letter. The number of days in this determination varies from case to case. While making this decision, some factors may include the duration of visit and purpose of staying in Australia. The length of stay requested may not be approved at all times.
A visa can be issued for a single or multiple entries. In the case of a multiple entry visa, the holder can leave and return to Australia so long as the visa has not run out.
Normally 3 months stay period is granted though sometimes it can be up to 12 months stay.
Visitor visa (subclass 600) Frequent Traveller stream This stream of Visitor visa (subclass 600) could fit for individuals who frequently visit Australia and possess a passport issued by the People's Republic of China.
Parents of Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents
Parents or step parents of an Australian citizen or permanent resident may be granted an unlimited number of visas by Immigration to stay in the country permanently if found to have satisfied all the requirements for a visa.
Each application will be considered separately, and multiple entries into Australia may be granted during the lifetime of the visa if eligible, but the aggregate time spent must not go over 12 months in any 18-month period. The applicant will need to have adequate health insurance arrangements.
The Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa could be the better option for applicants intending to stay for periods longer than 12 months per visit.
Extend Your Stay
You are not allowed to stay in Australia any longer with this renewed visa. Instead, you will need to apply for a new visa.
You can also apply for a new visa while holding a visa that excludes you from staying in Australia anymore because it has attached to it some kind of condition, like for example, 8503 – No Further Stay. Under specific conditions, this condition may be waived.
If you want to stay there for a more extended or permanent period, you will also be required to apply for visa that permits you extended or permanent residence in Australia.
